A Blast of Golden Yellow - More United and Going Stronger After 50 Years

Dear Classmates,

A 50th Anniversary Homecoming pre-celebration of Cavite National High School Class of 1965 was hosted by Dante Salud last February 12, 2015 at his Jardin dela Vida resort in Kawit, Cavite. A large number of balik-bayans came to attend to the much delight and enjoyment of everybody. Former crushes and high school sweethearts met again after 50 years. Classmates who have been friends in e-mails and Facebook finally met in person. There were more of the "how are you", "you have not changed a lot", "you gained some weight since high school", old stories retold and reminiscences of the past which overshadowed the dance floor.

For a video presentation of the events of this homecoming go to my channel at YouTube or scroll down this page, choose the video flick and click the play button of the video player. The original edited video footages of the 2 events in 2 DVDs run a total of approximately 3 hours, the first one runs for 2 hours and the second one runs for 1 hr and 16 minutes. Except for the intro of 3:37 minutes, the videos were segmented into about 40 minute-flicks for your watching convenience. You may even choose the segment of the footage you wish to view and watch other segments at some other time.

The first day of the 2-day official reunion started on February 14, 2015 with an early morning concelebration mass, officiated by the parish priest Fr Dominador Medina and co-graduate Fr Teddy Villanueva, held at the St. Peter's Parish Church. A jubilant parade of approximately 260 alumni and friends followed along the main streets of Cavite City and ended at the quadrangle of our Alma Mater. Despite the fact that the alumni and most of their better-halves are already in their senior years and with arthritis/knee woes, they braved and endured the long walk from the St. Peter's church, past the Ladislao Diwa Elementary School (formerly Caridad Elem. School), along P. Burgos avenue, all the way to the San Roque Church, left to Dra Salamanca street along Julian Felipe Elem. School, left to Lopez Jaena St. then all the way to CNHS quadrangle. A feat the senior citizens overcame with so much fanfare. It was a parade of golden yellow clad crowd, the shirts were through the courtesy and generosity of spouses Manny and Cyndy Cayton. After the parade, the throng of alumni proceeded to the Chua's Pavilion for the day long Fun Day event. A lechon baka was donated through the courtesy of our USA friends. The program festivities were emceed by Joel Lamangan and Nini Reynante.

The second day, February 15, 2015, was attended by approximately 300 alumni graduates and their respective guests. It was a dinner-dance event held at the Tejeros Grand Ballroom of Island Cove Resort in Imus, Kawit, Cavite and was likewise emceed by the lively duo of Joel Lamangan and Nini Austria Reynante. The invocation and blessing of the food was offered by Dante Salud. The combo was provided, as usual, through the generosity of Joel Lamangan. Dance shows and comedy skits were presented by our alumni from the USA to the delight of the crowd. After a sumptuous dinner, the night was spent mostly to dancing and merry-making till the closing hours of near to midnight.

On February 17, 2015, Joel Lamangan shared his Tagaytay home-resort with us, complete with a welcoming band. A combo band was available to provide music. Lunch was served after which speeches of gratitude were shared by some classmates. The entire day was spent mostly by reminiscing high school days, enjoying the cool mountain breeze of Tagaytay and feasting our eyes with the scenic view of the surrounding.

The pictures and videos presented here will more or less tell the whole story of the events. Except for the videos, most of you have already seen the photos in FB, uploaded by some of the proud, eager and very happy alumni attendees. The majority of the photos of the February 12 were provided by Deh Morente and others were FB image uploads by some of our friends and classmates. Most of the February 17 pictures were from the FB uploads of Class 65 friend Vir Francisco. Majority of the images of the February 14-15 events were likewise uploads by Vir and a few from the lens of our official photographer. The videos presented below are the original edited footages of the DVD videos submitted to us by our official videographer. As stated earlier, the videos were divided into about 40 minute portions for viewing convenience.

To paraphrase a portion of the statement I posted in my letter of gratitude in FB, "another chapter in the realms of history of CNHS Class of 1965 has been added; to be enshrined into our minds, to look back in the coming future and recollect the fond memories of this event and be proud of being a member of CNHS Class of 1965. The friendship and camaraderie we shared will always be there; after all we are Amigos Para Siempre. So much more to share, so much more to do, but with so little time, we have to say adieu, till next time."

Indeed, as always, these events will always be remembered, cherished and be included in the history of CNHS Class of 1965. The camaraderie, the happiness of seeing old friends, the memories of our high school moments will always be coming back through the years.
